Higher Diploma in Personal Training course I would highly recommend the Higher Diploma in Personal Training course (Level 2 Gym Instructing, Level 3 Personal Training, plus First Aid and additional CPD qualifications). Having now completed the course, I am incredibly glad that I chose this route over a purely online qualification. The balance between classroom learning, practical gym-based work, coursework, and examinations made the whole experience feel much more rounded and reflective of the real fitness industry. A huge strength of the course is the practical element. A lot of the learning takes place in the onsite gym, where you work directly with classmates to plan and deliver PT sessions to one another. That hands-on experience gave me far more confidence than I think I would have gained through online study alone. The instructors were excellent throughout: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping students understand the material properly, rather than simply teaching toward an exam. It is definitely an intensive course and requires real commitment. Attendance standards are high and the workload can be demanding, but honestly, I think that adds a lot of credibility to the qualification. You genuinely feel that you have earned it by the end. I also want to give particular credit to the student support team. Throughout the process, including onboarding, marking, feedback, and qualification support, the staff consistently went above and beyond to help whenever issues arose. In particular, thank you to Bubacarr, Nick, and the wider support team for all the assistance provided throughout the course. Overall, a challenging but genuinely worthwhile qualification that I would absolutely recommend to anyone serious about pursuing a career in personal training.

I attended YMCA Fit's Olympic Weightlifting hybrid learning course in April. There was some online study before the course, and a 90 minute virtual session on the first weekend which was very informative and set the structure. This prepared me for the following weekend where I attended face to face sessions on Saturday and Sunday. The venue was great. The classroom was accommodating and the gym had Olympic lifting facilities which supported the workshops. Glen, our tutor, was clearly knowledgeable in both theory and practical delivery across both days. It was a great course and has given me a strong foundation to build on for my journey into Olympic weightlifting as part of my ongoing professional development as a personal trainer.

I have been doing the training over the past few years. Can truly reccomend the teachers as they are super knowledgeable and helpful. They are amazing. But the admin team is shocking. I have always had issues and everyone else on my course. Have screwed up dates, payments, and trying to change test dates seems nearly impossible as there is only one person who can do that? The admin team are friendly so I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but considering I am paying over £2k for my training I am constantly frustrated by the lack of organising of the team. It hasn’t gotten better over the three year I u have been training for me and anyone else. Even the teacher comment on how bad the admin is. Makes me wish I had done another course like Basi instead.

chose YMCAfit because of its strong reputation and history of qualifying high-quality professionals, and it definitely lived up to that. The course was well structured, with a great balance of theory and practical work that really boosted my confidence. Our tutor, Russell, was hands-on and shared valuable real-world experience from the sports massage industry. Friendly, supportive, but also honest and constructive with feedback — I’d highly recommend YMCAfit.

A Very Disappointing Course! I am gutted to be writing this review because the practical side of this course was amazing. The tutors are very nice and are very knowledgeable and provide a great learning environment. But once the practical side of the course was done, that’s where things turned for the worst. The Aptem system which you use online to complete your coursework is very outdated, buggy and difficult to navigate. Some of the coursework has taken over a month to be marked and when you fail exams you don’t any feedback on where to improve. Not to mention you also have to pay every time to resit your exams if you fail. The student support is extremely lacking and provides very little support. This course has taken me longer than a year to finish as a whole due to very little support and feedback. I was hoping this course would help me gain confidence to work in the fitness industry but instead It has done the complete opposite and has impacted my mental health very negatively. I honestly wish I read these reviews before signing up. This course has not been worth the money and I would look into finding a different company for your PT qualification.
